Vandegrift wrestlers ready to trade silver for gold at state meet


The Vandegrift wrestler whose lucky T-shirt reads “Filthy McNasty” has turned out to be filthy good on the mat.

Two years ago as a sophomore, Riley Jacops won a Class 5A boys state championship at 120 pounds, gutting out an overtime victory. As he heads to his final UIL state meet, though, Jacops’ motivation flows from a one-point loss in a 138-pound final at the 2016 championships.
